Sports for Health
It has been a global truth that involvement in Sports account for the Physical, Mental, Emotional and Social well-being of the individual. Most of the times we conceptualize Sports to be benefiting only to the Physical well-being but more over it will also help build up adolescents’ accountability, dedication, leadership and discipline. The WHO has estimated that “one in four patients visiting a health service has at least one mental, neurological or behavioral disorder, but most of these disorders are neither diagnosed nor treated”. The benefits of regularly engaging in sports are particularly apparent in the prevention of several chronic diseases, including: cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, obesity, depression and osteoporosis. Sports have long been used in the treatment and rehabilitation of communicable and non-communicable diseases. With a aim to contribute to a healthy workforce with sound leadership, good interpersonal health and lastly healthy physical, mental and emotional well-being, we have been promoting Sports as one of the tool to create a healthy workforce.
